On our mission to work-in at least a bit of exercise when and where we can (it does not seem to be happening at the gym lately), we parked at the Spy Glass entrance to the greenbelt and trekked over to the Zilker Garden Festival yesterday. They host it annually at the Zilker Botanical Gardens and it was another beautiful day [...]

Today we went to the Keep Austin Spicy Festival at Fiesta Gardens. There was a pretty good turn out for a first time festival. It was much smaller in scale than some of the other events I’ve seen hosted at Fiesta Gardens. For instance the Austin Celtic Festival takes up the whole park and is much larger, with [...]

We popped into Daily Juice at Barton Springs on Sunday to grab a smoothie and a fresh squeezed juice. We have caught them at the Farmers Market before but have never visited one of their locations. There is a dizzying array of fruity and veggie treats to order - from fresh squeezed juice concoctions to simple or “serious” smoothies. [...]

Another great reason to live in Austin…on Monday we attended the first ever Food and Wine Blogger Bash that was hosted at the Whole Foods culinary center. The event brought together mostly local, but some national food bloggers and writers. There were cooking demonstrations, a wine tasting challenge, music and of course good food and libations.  The [...]

This was sent to me from Saint Arnold’s brewery and is in reference to a piece of legislation that is being proposed that would allow small breweries to sell their prodcuts to you on-site. Chopsticks: How-To

I am an absolute novice when it comes to wielding a pair of chopsticks. Every time I think I’ve got it down, a few months will pass and I’ll get another opportunity to use them, then it seems like it is right back to square one (fumble, fumble). While I probably have more opportunities to practice with [...]

I previously wrote about the process of ordering from the Soup Peddler and what the delivery experience was like, but did not actually comment on the items we had ordered. You can view that post here. To catch everyone up, we had ordered two entrees and ate one of them the night it arrived at the doorstep, and had put the other in [...]

We walked to the Sunset Valley Farmers Market this morning. It’s about a 3 mile round trip from Hillary’s apartment, so we got in a little exercise as well. Nice day but very windy. Picked up a few things:       Sgt Pepper’s Sun Dried Tomato Pesto Sgt Pepper’s Smoked Tomato Dipping Sauce: They use [...]

Below is a re-post (slightly revised) of a review I left on Urbanspoon. I wanted to add something to this - a reminder about their Wine Me Dine Me events. I still haven’t been to one, but have wanted to go ever since our first visit. A fixed price will provide you with a nice sampling of items [...]

The Last Hurrah

We ceremoniously and symbolically went out with a bang last night. Clothes are fitting a little snug here and there and it is time to get back on track. Seems to come in cycles and each moment we determine it is time to stop the badness, we tend to try and get in one last really good and really [...]
